d.e.bosley, jr.
I was born in Columbus, OH., attended
Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Tennessee State University. I studied
photography at The Ohio State University and the New York Institute of
Photography, and I am a member of WPPI and AAPNA.
I developed an interest in photography at the age of 12 while attending Champion
Jr. High and I was active in the photography club mentored by Mr. Woods. I was
marginally active in photography through high school and university. During this
time I acquired my first 35 mm camera. In 1970 I became interested in Wedding
Photography and enrolled in Basic Photography classes at The Ohio State
University. I exhibited works in three student exhibitions and had one
independent exhibition at a local recreation center during this period. I
studied and developed under the guidance of instructor Barbara Hampton at OSU
for two years. In 1975 I took my first wedding photography job and from that
time until 1999 (having photographed over 200 weddings) devoted my full
attention to this type of photography.
In 1988 I attended the Nikon School,
attended three Monte Zuker workshops and read a number of the top books on
wedding photography. From January 1989 to December 1990 I studied through the
NYI school of photography where I completed the program with honors.
I met Abdi Roble in February of 1999 and
was introduced to AAPNA. In March of that year I visited an AAPNA meeting and
was reintroduced to the wonder of creative photography. With a renewed
interested I began to study and attend AAPNA’s monthly meetings, and became a
member in November of 1999. I take an active role in this organization and have
participated in many of its contest and exhibitions.
